The new 7800 Dura-Ace rear derailleur features a new, wider outer link, increasing rigidity which yields better shifting. The new design saves 15 grams over the older Dura-Ace rear derailleur. It features a cold-forged aluminum body and 11 tooth pulleys alternate contact with chain links, reducing wear and friction. The pulley wheels spin on sealed cartridge bearings.

“It shifts like a brand new derailleur, even after 5000 miles,” is how one pro-racer described it. And it’s true. The reduced flex not only creates a more solid shifting system, it stays solid a lot longer.
